Iraq’s Ain al-Asad Air Bas Targeted with Two Rockets

ERBIL — Two Katyusha rockets hit Ain al-Asad Air Base in west of Iraq where the US and Coalition forces are stationed, an official statement said on Tuesday.

The rockets landed in an empty square of the air base, causing no casualties or material losses, Iraq’s War Media Cell said.

This comes less than 24 hours since another rocket attack targeted Balad Air Base in north of Baghdad where the US military contractors are stationed.

“Each attack against the GoI [Governemnt of Iraq], KRG [Kurdistan Regional Government] and Coalition undermines the authority of Iraqi institutions, the rule of law and Iraqi national sovereignty,” Wayne Marotto, a spokesperson for the Global Coalition, wrote on Twitter following the attack today.
