IRGC Commander Killed in Mariwan Border Clash

ERBIL — An Iranian commander with Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) was killed on Monday in an armed conflict in the border areas of Mariwan, Kurdistan province.

Military officials confirmed that “Hossein Namvar” was killed during armed confrontations with “an anti-revolution force”, a term Iran uses to refer to the opposition groups.

No further details have so far been revealed on possible injuries or casualties among the opposition group.

No Kurdish opposition party has yet claimed responsibility for killing the Iranian commander.
