ERBIL — At least two Iraqi policemen, one soldier of the country’s army, and a militiaman from Hashd al-Shaabi, were killed on Thursday night in two Islamic State (IS) attacks in Kirkuk.
Local police authorities told BasNews that the first attack had targeted an army checkpoint in Daquq, south of Kirkuk, killing two policemen and wounding six army soldiers.
Elsewhere in Hawija, southwest of Kirkuk, a joint checkpoint of the army and Hashd al-Shaabi militias came under attack. During hours of fierce confrontation, two soldiers were killed, officials confirmed.
It was not clear if any IS militant was killed, injured, or captured during the confrontations.
