ERBIL — Kurdish prominent leader and president of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, on Thursday received Nikhiro Arakawa, the new head of Japanese mission in Erbil.
Arakawa, who has taken the office in Erbil recently, reaffirmed Japan’s willingness to further strengthen the relations with Kurdistan Region in different areas of potential cooperation, according to the readout of the meeting published by Barzani Headquarters.
Barzani wished the Japanese envoy success in his new mission in Erbil, and welcomed the initiatives to develop the bilateral ties.
The latest political developments as well as the current challenges faced by Iraq and Kurdistan were also reviewed by the officials.
