ERBIL - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday received the new Greek Consul General in Erbil, Stavros Kyrimis, discussing bilateral ties between Erbil and Athens among other topics.
The Kurdish prime minister congratulated Kyrimis on his appointment and reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Region will continue to support him, as well as his office in the capital city, Barzani's office said in a statement.
"The Greek Consul General recognised the long-standing friendship and close relationship between Greece and the Kurdistan Region and highlighted his country’s readiness to strengthen ties in all fields," reads the statement.
He also commended the Kurdistan Region for its "important" role in restoring stability in the region.
"The Prime Minister wished him success on his new role and reaffirmed that the Kurdistan Regional Government remains available to support him and his office," the statement concluded.
