ERBIL - A member of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) intelligence service has been assassinated by the Islamic State (IS) jihadists in Deir ez-Zor, a monitor said on Tuesday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the incident took place in al-Dahla village in Thiban town, where the IS jihadists shot a civilian dead found to be a member of the SDF's intelligence service.
SOHR also cited its activists as reporting an armed attack on the house of a member of the SDF in al-Izba village of Deir ez-Zor province, noting that the gunmen were riding a motorcycle when they opened fire at the house.
"However, no casualties were reported," the Britain-based monitoring group revealed.
Similar attacks were also reported in the town of al-Swar targeting SDF members' houses without resulting in any casualties, the monitor said.
An increase in violence in several parts of eastern Syria comes while the Islamic State still poses a serious threat to security forces and civilians through its sleeper cells.
