ERBIL — Islamic State (IS) militants on Sunday stormed a village in Daquq district of Kirkuk and kidnapped a tribal leader.
Sheikh Riyadh Shwish, the chief of Obeidi tribe, was forcefully taken away from Shabicha village, a police source from Daquq told BasNews.
Security forces have already launched a large-scale search operation, but Sheikh Riyadh’s whereabouts and fate remain unknown.
Daquq is located south of Kirkuk province, near Diyala and Salahaddin provinces, which struggle with the constant IS presence and terrorist attacks.
