ERBIL — The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) on Thursday extended the closure of schools and universities across the region while combating a new surge in COVID-19 infections.
KRG’s Ministry of Education said all educational institutions will remain closed until COVID-19 Task Force will convene next week to make a new decision.
The autonomous region is now struggling with the third wave of the pandemic. It recorded 1,217 new cases within 24 hours on Wednesday.
The worsening situation has led the KRG to announce a partial lockdown from 08:00 pm to 06:00 am every day.
