ERBIL - The Kurdistan Region's Ministry of Health said on Wednesday that it had recorded more than 1,200 new infections of COVID-19 within the previous day.
A total of 11,532 suspects took tests for coronavirus on Wednesday, out of which 1,217 individuals were found positive for the virus, the ministry said in a statement.
There were also 408 new recoveries within the same day.
The death toll spiked to 3,756 after the novel virus took at least 13 other lives on Wednesday.
The COVID-19 tally now stands at 128,264, with 112,334 people already recovered from the novel virus while 12,174 cases remain active.
The pandemic situation across the Kurdistan Region has lately worsened. The KRG has closed schools, universities, and religious sites until April 10.
