ERBIL — The Free Life Party of Kurdistan (PJAK), an armed group affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), on Sunday confirmed that two of its fighters were killed near Penjwen, a town in Sulaymaniyah province near the Iranian border.
PJAK said in a statement that Zagros Mani and Shawgar Chia were killed in Cham Shiler of Penjwen, where they were invited for a meeting with two other people, whose identities or affiliation were not revealed.
However, the party accused Iran for masterminding the “inhumane” plot of assassination.
According to the statement, the assassination was carried out on February 4th.
Despite the fact that PKK is accused of close cooperations with the Islamic Republic of Iran in the border areas of Kurdistan Region, the party has, since 2003, established PJAK allegedly for the Kurdish cause in Iran.
