Senior Iraqi Commander Survives Roadside Bombing

ERBIL — A senior Iraqi federal police commander on Saturday survived a roadside bomb blast in Salahaddin province, north of Baghdad.

The explosive was detonated on a road near Yasrib district of Salahaddin province where Colonel Mahi Hashmawi’s convoy was driving through, media reports said.

Colonel Hashmawi survived the blast, but a civilian near the site of the explosion was killed.

Two Hashd al-Shaabi militiamen, who were traveling with the federal police convoy, sustained injures, the reports added.
