ERBIL - Iraq's Ministry of Health said on Monday that 24 other people had lost their lives due to the coronavirus across the country within the past 24 hours.
During the same period, at least 4,468 people tested positive for the coronavirus, while 3,920 patients were discharged from the hospital, the ministry said in a statement.
With the new fatalities confirmed on Monday, the death toll spiked to 13,596.
Iraq has so far seen a total of 731,016 COVID-19 infections since the outbreak of the novel virus in the country, out of which 664,461 people have recovered.
The coronavirus situation in Iraq has once again deteriorated over the past three weeks. The health ministry had already warned of a new wave of the virus, for which it blamed the citizens for not abiding by the health guidelines.
