ERBIL - Kurdistan Region's Health Ministry said on Sunday that it had detected more than 250 new infections of COVID-19 within the past day.
Out of 6,323 suspects who took tests for COVID-19, at least 256 individuals were found positive for the virus, the ministry said in a statement, noting that three people also lost their lives during the same period.
The statement noted that there were also 135 recoveries on Sunday.
The new reports bring the coronavirus tally across the Kurdistan Region to 110,512, from which 104,488 people have already recovered from COVID-19 and 3,537 others died with 2,487 cases remaining active.
The pandemic situation in the Kurdistan Region is deteriorating for which the Kurdistan Region has taken protective measures in efforts to better deal with the situation.
The measures also include a travel ban between the Kurdistan Region and other parts of Iraq.
