ERBIL — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday accused Tehran of carrying out a recent attack against an Israeli-owned ship in the Gulf of Oman.
Last Friday, a blast hit the vehicle-carrier MV Helios Ray which belongs to Israel. It ripped holes in both sides of its hull.
“This was indeed an operation by Iran. That is clear,” Netanyahu told Kan radio.
The Israeli prime minister made it clear that his country will respond to the attack as it hits Iran around the region.
“You know my policy. Iran is Israel’s biggest enemy. I am determined to fend it off. We are striking at it all over the region.”
Saeed Khatibzadeh, a spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry has already rejected the accusation, saying the security of the Gulf is important for Iran.
