Over 22 People Injured in Dhi Qar Protests

ERBIL - More than 20 people, including protesters and security personnel, were injured during the demonstrations in the Iraqi province of Dhi Qar on Wednesday.

Iraqi media reports said that at least ten demonstrators were wounded while 12 security personnel were injured during clashes erupted between the two sides in Dhi Qar on Wednesday.

Demonstrations are still ongoing in the Iraqi province against the federal government.

Anti-government protests first began in October 2019, and continued until the outbreak of the coronavirus in Iraq in February 2020.

According to Iraq's High Commission for Human Rights, over 25,000 protesters and security personnel were wounded and hundreds of others were killed, including dozens of civil activists.
