ERBIL — An improvised explosive device (IED) on Wednesday hit a minibus in the Syrian Kurdish city of Afrin, leaving at least three civilians injured.
A local activist told BasNews that the explosion had occurred on Al-Villat street.
The Kurdish city of Afrin is currently under the control of the Turkish Army and Ankara-backed Islamist groups.
Turkey took control of the Kurdish territories in January 2018 during a massive military operation dubbed “Operation Olive Branch” which pushed the Kurdish forces out of the area.
Back then, the operation displaced tens of thousands of indigenous Kurds and international organizations reported a widespread looting of Kurdish properties by the Islamist militias.
