ERBIL - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Tuesday held an online meeting with the governors of the four provinces to discuss investment projects.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Deputy PM Qubad Talabani, the officials exchanged views on the financial challenges in the provinces, as well as the Kurdistan Regional Government's (KRG) agenda to face them, Barzani's office said in a statement.
"Today I spoke with our governors on finances, investment, and public works," the Kurdish premier wrote on Twitter. "In parallel to the continued budget talks with Baghdad, we’ve appropriated more than 350bn IQD in the KRG 2021 budget for investment projects across all four provinces."
According to the statement, the KRG's plan for implementating projects in the sectors of municipality, electricity, health, agriculture, education, and construction was also discussed during the meeting.
"We also approved connecting provinces directly to KRG’s online spend system (IIS). This will allow local governments to submit spend requests online, reducing paperwork and bureaucratic delays. It also brings visibility and accountability to the public spending," Barzani added in his Twitter statement.
