ERBIL — Iraqi security forces on Monday night found a launchpad in central Baghdad from where rockets were fired towards the US Embassy in the Green Zone.
According to the Iraqi Security Media Cell, three rockets were fired from Hay al-Salam, commonly known as Al-Tubji.
Two rockets landed inside the fortified Green Zone where the US embassy, dozens of diplomatic missions, and government institutions are located.
The Third rocket hit Harisiyyah neighborhood of the Iraqi capital.
According to the latest reports, at least four civilian-owned vehicles were seriously damaged in the Green Zone, but there were no casualties.
The attack came a few days after another offensive on Balad Air Base in Salahaddin province where the US forces are stationed.
