ERBIL - Iraq's Ministry of Health on Monday reported that more than 20 other people had lost their lives due to the coronavirus during the past day.
At least 3,864 new cases of COVID-19 were also confirmed across Iraq, including those recorded in the Kurdistan Region, during the same period, the ministry said in a statement.
The death toll spiked to 13,295 afte 23 other fatalities related to COVID-19 were registered on Monday.
However, there were also 2,236 recoveries.
The new reports bring the coronavirus tally across Iraq to 671,801, from which 620,745 people have so far been discharged from the hospital since February last year.
Iraqi authorities have imposed a partial lockdown, which went into effect on February 18, and is said to continue for two weeks, as the pandemic situation has already begun to deteriorate in the country.
