Magnitude 3.4 Earthquake Hits Khanaqin

ERBIL — A magnitude 3.4 earthquake rattled the Kurdish city of Khanaqin in Diyala province on Sunday, authorities said.

The quake occurred at 03:41 am local time at a depth of 14 kilometers in an area 40 kilometers outside Khanaqin, General Directorate of Meteorology and Seismology of Kurdistan Region said in a statement.

Residents of the Kurdish city felt the shake, but there was no serious damages.

A day earlier, another earthquake, measured at 3.1 on Richter scale, hit Chamchamal in Sulaymaniyah province, causing no damages as well.
