ERBIL - Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has rejected any changes to be made to the country's 2015 nuclear deal with the world powers.
Rouhani's comments come as there have been calls, including by US President Joe Biden, on Iran to broaden the terms of the accord and include other regional countries, such as Saudi Arabia, which is known as one of Iran’s regional arch rivals, has called for a role in any future talks on the deal.
"No clause of the JCPOA will change. Know this. And no one will be added to the JCPOA," Rouhani said in a televised cabinet meeting, using the deal’s official name, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, as reported by Arab News.
"This is the agreement. If they want it, everyone comes into compliance. If they don’t, they can go live their lives."
Former US President Donald Trump withdrew from the Iran 2015 nuclear deal in 2018, and reimposed sanctions on Iran, with Tehran soon starting to step away from its commitment to the agreement's compliance.
