ERBIL — Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Education on Wednesday announced that it had decided to reopen schools as the pandemic was fairly under control in the region.

Minister Alan Hama Saeed told reporters that the COVID-19 Task Force, which includes ministry of health and ministry of interior with other relevant authorities, have approved the reopening of the schools from 7th February.

However, he said, strict protective measures will be taken to ensure that the in-class studies will not put the students and educators at risk.

“If a case is detected in a class, the entire students of the class should go to quarantine… If several cases are detected in a school, the entire school should go to quarantine,” Minister Saeed said.
