ERBIL - Iraqi President Barham Salih has signed off on over 340 death sentences, an official confirmed on Sunday.
Iraqi News Agency (INA) cited a source who spoke on condition of anonymity as saying that "the ratifications took place after checking the cases sent from all their constitutional and legal aspects, including the exhaustion of all appeal methods and lack of inclusion in the General Amnesty No. 27 of 2016."
The source pointed out that the death penalities were issued by Iraqi courts specialized in terrorist and criminal cases.
According the source, the presidency will continue to approve the death sentences with precision and caution, far from any other considerations.
