ERBIL — Fighter jets belonging to the US-led Global Coalition carried out two airstrikes on Tuesday in the rural areas of Daquq, south of Kirkuk province, killing at least seven Islamic State (IS) members.
This was the second Coalition airstrike on IS hideouts in the area in less than a week, Daquq Mayor Luis Khidhir told BasNews.
“Ten terrorists were killed and a 10-meter-long tunnel, used by the terrorists to hide, was also destroyed,” Khidhir added.
Coalition Spokesperson Wayne Morotto and Iraqi Commander-in-Chief Spokesperson Yahia Rasool also confirmed the airstrikes. They said in short online statements that two IS hideouts were also destroyed during the operation.
