ERBIL — Islamic State (IS) militants attacked the Iraqi federal police in Kirkuk on Sunday, killing at least one policeman.
The attack was carried out in Saadouniyah village near Hawija district, some 55 kilometers southwest Kirkuk, said chief of Hawija police.
“Also another policeman was injured,” Colonel Fattah Mahmoud told BasNews, saying the jihadists had managed to escape.
