ERBIL - The jihadists of Islamic State (IS) carried out an attack on pro-Iranian Hashd al-Shaabi militias in the Iraqi province of Diyala on Monday, a source said.
A security source in the area confirmed the report to Shafaq News and pointed out that the militants targeted a checkpoint of Hashd al-Shaabi in north of al-Muqdadiya district of Diyala province.
At least two Hashd al-Shaabi militiamen were wounded in the IS attack, the source further explained.
The Islamic State still poses a serious threat in several provinces of Iraq, especially in those territories disputed between Erbil and Baghdad.
