Iraq Reports nearly 2,220 New COVID-19 Cases

ERBIL - Iraq's Ministry of Health said on Tuesday that nearly 2,220 new infections of COVID-19 had been detected within the past day.

With 2,218 new cases, the coronavirus tally across Iraq now stands at 554,676, the ministry said in a statement, adding that there were also 1,896 new recoveries on Tuesday.

The pandemic also claimed 48 other lives in Iraq, bringing the death toll to 12,306, the ministry said, noting that a total of 485,570 patients have so far recovered since February.
