Iranian Nuclear Scientist Assassinated in Tehran

ERBIL - Unidentified armed on Friday assassinated an Iranian nuclear scientist in the capital Tehran, reports said.

Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, who was a senior Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) officer and headed Iran’s nuclear weapons project, was assassinated in Damavand.

The Iranian scientist was also a professor of physics at the Imam Hussein University in Tehran, and previously served as the head of Iran's Physics Research Center.

However, the Iranian Fars News Agency said in a report that Fakhrizadeh had only been wounded in the attack, receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Tehran.
