Iraq's Sadrist Movement Calls for Anti-government Protests

ERBIL - The Iraqi Sadrist Movement, led by powerful Shia cleric Muqtada al-Sadr, has once again called for mass demonstrations against the government.

The movement urged the Iraqi people in a statement to take to the streets in their cities against the federal government on Friday afternoon at 3:00 pm.

It also called on citizens in Karbala and Najaf to join the expected protests in the capital Baghdad on Friday, asking them to have an Iraqi flag, a mat for praying, as well as a face mask, according to Iraqi reports.
