ERBIL - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has expressed strong concerns over the murder of a woman in Garmiyan area, saying that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
"I’m appalled by the murder of a young woman in Kalar. I thank our security forces for their swift response. The perpetrators will face the full force of the law," the Kurdish premier said in a Twitter statement.
Earlier on Friday, media reports said that three brothers in Kalar district of Garmiyan area had hanged their sister, born in 1994, over an alleged social issue.
PM Barzani argued that women in the Kurdistan Region must be able to lead equally and safe.
"Kurdistan’s women must be able to lead equal, free, safe, dignified lives without the threat of violence."
