ERBIL — At least 15 fighters of the militia groups affiliated with Iran were killed in an airstrike on Saturday night in eastern Syrian province of Deir Ez-Zor.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed the casualties and said they were all of Afghan and Iraqi nationalities working for Iran.
Several others were injured, the monitoring group said, suspecting the death toll to further increase as multiple injured militias were reportedly in critical conditions.
The airstrike also destroyed the positions and military vehicles during the ride, which took place in al-Bukamal countryside east of Deir ez-Zor.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the fighter jets were believed to be Israel’s.
