ERBIL - Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani received the UK’s Senior Defense Advisor for the Middle East and North Africa, Lieutenant-General Sir John Lorimer, in Erbil on Wednesday.
Lorimer, who was accompanied by a delegation, arrived in capital Erbil on Wednesday to pay a farewell visit to the Kurdish president, a statement by Barzani's office said.
"In the meeting, which was also attended by the UK Ambassador to Iraq, Stephen Hickey, the general situation in the country and the wider region was discussed," reads the statement.
The pair further shed light "on the importance of the continuation of coordination and cooperation in order to safeguard peace and stability in the wider region," the statement added.
The UK military advisor reiterated the continuation of London's support to Erbil and Baghdad, expressing "his country’s gratitude and appreciation for the joint work and partnership with the Kurdistan Region and Iraq; especially as partners in the international coalition to fight ISIS."
