ERBIL — Iran on Tuesday reported a new all-time high daily infection of COVID-19 after confirming 13,352 cases within the past 24 hours.
Iranian health minister spokesperson, Sima Lari, told reporters that the country’s total infection tally now stands at 788,473.
She also revealed that a near-record 482 people had died in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll to 42,461.
The Iranian government has already taken some measures to prevent the further spread of the disease, including a compulsory face mask order in the overpopulated capital city of Tehran.
The country’s president Hassan Rouhani said last Sunday that his government was planning to introduce new measures.
“The administration has no choice but to implement new limitations … and widespread closures,” he said.
