ERBIL - Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has offered condolences to those who were affected by Friday's deadly earthquake which hit the Aegean Sea, shaking both Turkey and Greece and resulting in casualties.
According to the latest updates by media reports, at least 14 people have been killed across Turkey and Greece, while in the Turkish city of Izmir, which was particularly hit by the 6.6 magnitude quake, around 20 buildings were destroyed.
CNN cited Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD) as reporting that 12 people were killed and 419 others were injured in Turkey due to the earthquake.
"I offer our condolences to everyone affected by the devastating earthquake in the Aegean Sea today and pray for a swift recovery of those injured," PM Barzani wrote on Twitter.
"We stand in solidarity with the people of Turkey and Greece during this difficult time."
