Kirkuk: Five Civilians Killed, Injured in IS Mortar Attack

ERBIL - At least five civilians were either killed or injured as a result of an Islamic State (IS) mortar attack south of Kirkuk on Wednesday night, police confirmed.

Nihad Mohammed, a spokesperson for Diyala Police, told BasNews that the incident occurred near Halwan checkpoint, in Kirkuk's Jalawla district, where at least three civilians were killed and two others were wounded.

"The wounded were taken to the Khanaqin public hospital for medical treatment while the police have cordoned off the area and the terrorists escaped," Mohammed added.
