UNAMI Expresses "Grave Concern" over Burning of Kurdistan Flag and KDP Office in Baghdad

ERBIL - The United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) has expressed its "grave concern" over the burning of the Kurdistan flag and the representation office of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) in Baghdad.

The 5th office of the KDP was attacked on Saturday by the pro-Iran Hashd al-Shaabi's supporters, who set the building as well as the Kurdistan flag on fire.

"We express our grave concern about burning of Kurdistan Region flag and attack on KDP offices in Baghdad today," reads a statement by the UNAMI.

"Acts of violence and intimidation (never a solution to disagreement!) are to be condemned. Iraq needs unity, stability and dialogue to tackle its many problems."

The office of Iraqi PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi announced earlier today that at least 15 people had been arrested over Saturday's attack on the KDP office.
