ERBIL — The planned national census in Iraq and Kurdistan Region should be free from political interferences, said Kurdistan Region’s Planning Minister Dara Rashid.
With its last census held in 1997, Iraq had previously planned a new census for October 2020, which included the Kurdistan Region. The government said the current situation had forced it to postpone the census by one year.
Dara Rashid met his Iraqi counterpart on Thursday in Erbil to discuss a range of issues, including the census.
He said during a press conference that the sole aim of the census should be developing the country and not political interests of certain sides.
