ERBIL — The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) on Thursday denied the reports claiming that it had deployed fighters to Armenia for the fight against Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh.
Zagros Hiwa, a spokesperson for the PKK forces in Qandil described the reports as “baseless” and said such allegations are made to further prolong violence and war in the region.
He also accused Turkey of making the accusations, saying it intended to harm the PKK.
Military commanders of Azerbaijan, which enjoy Turkey’s support in the ongoing conflict with Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh, recently claimed that PKK had deployed its Syrian forces from the People’s Protection Units (YPG) to fight in the region.
However, reports from the opposite side accuse Turkey of moving hundreds of its Syrian Islamist rebel allies to defend Azerbaijan against Armenia.
