ERBIL — At least three civilians were injured on Monday night after the Islamic State (IS) militants arbitrarily shelled a village outside the Kurdish disputed city of Khanaqin, north of Diyala province.
A total of six rockets had landed inside Islah village, Nihad Mohammed, a spokesperson for Diyala police department told BasNews.
A resident of the village said those wounded by the attack were women and children.
BasNews has learned that the IS militants had also carried out a similar attack on Zargoushi village near Sadiyyah, which caused no casualties.
Zargoushi was targeted with eight rockets, a local official said.
