Barzani Offers Condolences on Death of Yezidi Spiritual Leader

ERBIL - Kurdish prominent leader and President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, has extended condolences over the passing of Yezidi spiritual leader Baba Sheikh Khurto Hajji Ismail.

Barzani noted that Baba Sheikh was a "prominent and well-known Kurdish religious leader who contributed his efforts to solve the problems among Yezidi brothers and sisters," Barzani said in a statement.

He sent condolences the family of Baba Sheikh, Mir of Yezidis, Mir Hazim Tahseen Bag, and all Yezidi brothers and sisters in Kurdistan and around the world.

The Yezidi spiritual leader suffered from a kidney disease and had recently been admitted to a hospital before he passed away in a hospital in the capital Erbil at the age of 87 on Thursday.
