ERBIL — Iraqi forces captured three Islamic State (IS) militants in Baquba district of Diyala province on Sunday, police said.
The three militants were tracked down by national security department of Diyala, said Nihad Mohammed, a spokesperson for Diyala police department.
They had sneaked into the area to reorganize sleeper cells in Baquba as part of the efforts by the group to revive the so-called Diyala Wilayah, Mohammed added.
Security forces have now gathered information about the three detainees’ involvement in several terrorist activities in the region, and they will soon face a trial.
