ERBIL — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) killed at least four Kurdish civilians with an RPG fired at their vehicle outside Mahabad, Western Azarbaijan.
Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported on Tuesday that the IRGC forces chased a vehicle on the road connecting Mahabad and Sardasht last Sunday, September 20, and targeted the moving car with an RPG.
Four people were killed instantly, the organization said, citing local sources as claiming that they were suspected of membership in Kurdish opposition parties.
No Kurdish political party has yet made a statement.
Hengaw, however, noted that one of the victims had served months in prison last year for alleged membership in the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).
