ERBIL — At least one Katyusha rocket hit Baghdad’s fortified Green Zone on Wednesday, Iraq’s Security Media Cell confirmed.
The rocket landed near a residential apartment, but there were no casualties or serious material damages, the brief statement said.
The Green Zone in Baghdad is the most fortified neighborhood were the US embassy and other Western diplomatic missions, as well as the Iraqi top government institutions, are located.
It was the second attack in the last two days.
BasNews reported late on Monday that the C-RAM air defense system of the US Embassy had intercepted another rocket attack, which caused no damages.
Al-Arabiya said sirens at the US embassy had also went off during Wednesday’s attack.
