ERBIL — Kurdish security forces in northeast Syria captured a group of Islamic State (IS) women inside a water tank truck while attempting to escape the al-Hol camp in Hasakah, media reports said.
According to a video published by the security forces, dozens of women and children were hiding inside the tank truck when children started crying for lack of oxygen at the exit of the camp.
The security forces immediately seized the vehicle and brought the IS women under detention.
BasNews previously reported that a number of IS women and children were captured on their way to escape from al-Hol Camp last Sunday, only hours after more than 200 IS detainees attempted to break out of the camp.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said both the escape attempts were foiled by the internal security forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Al-Hol Camp is where over 70,000 IS detainees and their families are held by the SDF. There are also thousands of IS militants from Europe, US, Canada, and other countries, whom are yet to be repatriated.
