Four Kurdish Civilians Executed by IS after Being Kidnapped from Disputed Areas

ERBIL — Islamic State (IS) militants have executed four Kurdish civilians whom were kidnapped from a village near the disputed Kurdish town of Khanaqin in Iraq’s Diyala province, an official said on Thursday.

A police source previously told BasNews that the IS jihadists had attacked Dakka Jamil village outside Khanaqin and killed one resident of the village while five others were abducted.

Talat Rafat, a police officer from Khanaqin, told BasNews that they had found the bodies of the four abductees on Thursday morning outside their village.

Other officials previously contacted by BasNews said the jihadists had set up a fake checkpoint near the village and they kidnapped the five civilians after killing another instantly.

The fate of the the fifth abductee remains unknown.
