Iraq Reaches Agreement with Norway's Batservice Mandal to Build Oil Tankers

ERBIL — The Iraqi government has reached an agreement with Norwegian shipbuilder Batservice Mandal for the construction of two oil tankers, Oil Minister Ihsan Abdul Jabbar said on Tuesday.

The oil tankers, which will be delivered in 18 months, will have a capacity of 60,000 tons together, according to the minister.

The agreement is part of government’s plan to revive an Iraqi tanker fleet which has been devastated by decades of war and violence in the country, Reuters cited Jabbar.
