ERBIL — Another activist and protest organizer was attacked on Friday night in Dhi Qar’s Nasiriya, south of Iraq.

Media reports said a group of armed men attacked Wisam Zahabi late on Friday night outside his home in Nasiriyah, and severely injured him.

Zahabi, who is also a journalist, is known for his civic and social activities and organizational role in the recent anti-government protests.

The attack came only hours after the assassination of another protest activist in Basra with 20 bullets.
