ERBIL — A Kurdish shepherded was shot and injured by Iranian forces on the border between Kurdistan Region’s Sulaymaniyah province and Iran, local officials said on Monday.

The victims is a 34-year-old resident of Towasooran village near Sangasar, said Shorish Ismail, a spokesperson for Raparin Police Department.

“The shepherd had fallen asleep when his herd crossed the border into Iran,” Ismail told BasNews, explaining that the man rushes to bring back the herd when Iranian border guards opened fire at him.

He survived two bullets and he is now receiving treatments at Qaladize hospital.
