ERBIL — The State Department has refuted the media reports claiming that US representatives had visited Mount Qandil to meet with Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) officials.
A spokesperson for the State Department told VOA’s Kurdish service that there has been no meetings between the US representatives and PKK officials as Kurdish media claimed in the past few days.
The report was also rejected by an unnamed US military source, VOA said.
The media reports claimed on Monday that three vehicles, protected by US warplanes in the sky, carried US representatives to Mount Qandil in Kurdistan Region for a meeting amid Turkey’s increased military actions against the PKK.
The meeting was not confirmed by Kurdistan Region or PKK officials either.
