ERBIL — Iraq’s Interior Minister Osman al-Ghanemi arrived in Kurdistan Region on Wednesday where he met with top Kurdish officials.
Barzani Headquarters said in a press release that the Kurdish prominent leader and the president of Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), Masoud Barzani, and the Iraqi interior minister discussed the latest developments in the country.
They also emphasized on the need for security coordination and cooperation between Erbil and Baghdad in the Kurdish areas known as the disputed territories.
While in Erbil, Ganemi was also received by Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani.
The sides discussed the security conditions across Iraq, including the threat of IS remnants, the challenges to secure the border strip with Syria, the areas affected by IS terrorist activities, as well as the coordinations between Erbil and Baghdad.
